Add and edit items in your inventory

Add an item, fill in the details that matter for a claim, edit it, favorite it, or remove it.

Your inventory is the heart of Insured. The more detail an item carries, the smoother an insurance claim goes.

Add an item

  • Tap Add item and give it a name (the only required field).
  • Assign a room and category so it is easy to find later (see Organize your inventory with categories and rooms).
  • Record what helps at claim time: current value, replacement value, serial number, model and product numbers, store, and purchase date.
  • On Insured Premium, tap Suggest to have Insured propose a category and an estimated replacement value from the details you have entered. It is a suggestion — review it and change anything before you save.
  • Link an insurance carrier if the item is separately scheduled — see Track your insurance carriers and policies.

How many items

The Free plan holds up to 5 items. Insured Premium removes the cap — see FireDash Insured Premium and the Home Protection Bundle. If you are already over the cap, nothing is removed; you simply cannot add more until you upgrade.

Values

Current value is roughly what the item is worth today; replacement value is what it would cost to buy new. Reports total both. If you leave replacement blank, reports fall back to the current value for that item.

Edit, favorite, delete

  • Open any item to edit it.
  • Favorite high-value items to keep them at the top of the list.
  • Delete removes an item from your inventory. Items already frozen onto an issued report are unaffected — that snapshot never changes.
