FireDash certificate types explained

FD-, RD-, WD-, and INS- — what each one states, who issues it, and what it is good for.

FireDash issues four kinds of certificate. All four are verifiable at verify.firedash.us, and all four are purchased per report rather than requiring a subscription.

FD- — Insurance Distance Proof

  • States: the distance from a property to its nearest fire hydrant, with the hydrant details and the measurement method.
  • From: FireDash for Residents.
  • Used for: homeowners insurance questions about hydrant proximity.

RD- — RiskDash report

  • States: a property risk assessment with score, grade, findings, and recommended actions.
  • From: RiskDash.
  • Used for: underwriting files, client deliverables, EHS and construction documentation.

WD- — Water Supply Adequacy Certificate

  • States: needed vs. available fire flow for a property, with the standard used and the governing flow test.
  • From: WaterDash.
  • Used for: plan review, water-supply adequacy questions, underwriting.

INS- — Home Inventory Report

  • States: a documented home inventory with items, values, and photos as of the issue date.
  • From: FireDash Insured.
  • Used for: proof of ownership after a loss.

What every certificate has in common

  • A certificate number, an issue date, and a tamper-evident integrity hash.
  • A statement of the facts as of the issue date — certificates are not living documents.
  • Provenance marking where data was contributed by residents rather than by the servicing agency.

To confirm one you have received, see Verify a FireDash certificate.
